(2) Seismic activity
a. Details of the place of earthquake occurrence and the earthquake generating situation
On September 6, 2018 at 03:07 (JST), there was a M6.7 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 7) at a depth of 37 km in the central and eastern Iburi regions, Hokkaido.
After this event, the seismic activity has become very active; An M5.4 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 5 Lower) occurred at 06:11 (JST) on the same day at a depth of 38 km in the vicinity of the recent event: 52 earthquakes of M4.0 or over and 23 earthquakes with maximum seismic intensity 4 or over occurred till October 12 at 10 o'clock. The seismic activity, the center of which being a region of about 30 km length extending in an N-S direction, is decaying but still continues.
