* On January 6, there was a M6.0 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 1) under the ocean area near Iwotou Island.
* On January 11, there was a M4.6 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 5 Lower) in Sanpachi-Kamikita region, Aomori prefecture.
* On January 12, there was a M6.2 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 3) offshore northwest of Hokkaido.
* On January 14, there was a M6.7 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 5 Lower) offshore Urakawa.
