Earthquake under the vicinity of Vladivostok on April 5



On April 5, 2013 at 22:00 (JST), there was a M6.3 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 1) at a depth of 593 km under the vicinity of Vladivostok. The focal mechanism (CMT solution) had a compression axis in a dip direction of the Pacific plate. This event occurred within the Pacific plate.
For the seismic activity since October 1997, in the vicinity of the recent event (Area b), there have often been earthquakes of M6.0 or over. Recently there was a M6.8 earthquake (maximum seismic intensity 2) on February 18, 2010.
For the seismic activity since January 1923, in the vicinity of the recent event (Area c), there were 4 earthquakes of M7.0 or over. For the M7.3 earthquake that occurred in 1994, maximum seismic intensity 3 was observed.
