Earthquake near the Border between Osaka and Nara Prefectures [in Nara Prefecture] on November 6
On November 6, 2007 at 10:01 (JST) there was a M4.1 earthquake at a depth of 12km near the border between Osaka and Nara prefectures (maximum seismic intensity 3). The focal mechanism showed a strike-slip fault with a compression axis in an ENE-WSW direction. There have been no aftershocks observed. There was a M4.1 earthquake on August 27, 2000 in this vicinity.
In the area near the recent event, there was a M6.4 earthquake on February 21, 1936 (Kawachi Yamato Earthquake), which caused damage with 9 fatalities.
