Seismic activity in the sea near Niijima-Kozushima (seismic activity triggered by the current activity)


In the area between Toshima and Kozushima, seismic activity has been observed for some time. In the period immediately before and after the M5.6 event in the sea to the west of Miyakejima, the area around Kozushima experienced seismic activity of maximum M5.2. There was also concentrated seismic activity of maximum M3.5 in the sea to the northwest of Kozushima on 1 July in the period immediately before and after the M6.4 event near Kozushima. Furthermore, there was concentrated seismic activity of maximum M3.6 near Niijima, and maximum M4.5 near Kozushima on 9 July in the period immediately before and after the M6.1 event.
