Seismic activity in the Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture


On 8 June, there was an M4.8 event at a depth of 10 km, with multiple aftershocks including an M3.9 event at a depth of 11 km in the northeast tip of the aftershock zone on the 10th. Additionally, in the period from October to November of last year, there was seismic activity including M4.0 and M4.1 events to the northeast of this event. The focal mechanism was a strike-slip fault type with a northwest-southeast tension axis.
