Seismic events in the area of Niijima-Kozushima
At 12:11 p.m. on 29 June, there was an M5.1 (tentative data) seismic event in the area of Niijima and Kozushima islands. Seismic intensity of 5 lower was recorded in Kozushima Town Hall, 4 in Niijima Town Hall, and 3 on Miyakejima.
In March 1999, there was an earthquake of seismic intensity 5 lower in this area on Kozushima.
At present, this region is experiencing increased seismic activity and the Meteorological Agency is closely monitoring the area for further such activity.
