Seismic activity in the Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture


On 8 June, there was an M4.8 event at a depth of 10 km, followed by several aftershocks, and on 10 June there was an M3.9 event at a depth of 11 km at the northeastern tip of the aftershock region. From October to November of last year, there was seismic activity to the northeast of this event, including events of M4.1 and M4.0. The focal mechanism was a strike-slip fault type, on a northwest-southeast tension axis.
