Kyushu Region


a)On 19 and 2 May, in the Hyuga Nada sea, there were M4.4 events, which occurred in the same area as an M4.1 event on the 17th. In 1996, there were two M6.6 events about 50 km south of this seismic activity.

Also, outside this time period, on 6 June there was an M6.1 event (maximum seismic intensity 3) south of Amami Oshima island. There was also seismic activity including an M4.8 event (maximum seismic intensity 5 lower) on 8 June in the Kumamoto region of Kumamoto Prefecture.
