Earthquakes off the Kushiro coast


At 1:54 a.m. on 13 June, there was an M5.0 (tentative data) event at a depth of 60 km off the Kushiro coast. Seismic intensity of 4 was recorded in Kushiro City, and from 1 to 3 in other parts of Hokkaido. No aftershocks of seismic intensity 1 or greater have been recorded since then. This event occurred near the juncture of the subducting Pacific Plate and the Continental Plate.
