Seismic activity in the sea near Niijima, Kozushima and Miyakejima(entire period)


There has been continuing seismic activity in the area of Miyakejima, Niijima and Kozushima since the volcanic eruption on Miyakejima on June 26th, and a total of 476 M4 or greater events occurred since the start of the seismic activity to July 31st.
On July 1st, there was an M6.4 event 5 km to the east of Kozushima, which registered a seismic intensity of 6 lower on Kozushima. Then, on July 9th, there was an M6.1 event, which also measured seismic intensity 6 lower on Kozushima, 2 km northwest of the July 1st event. On July 15th, there was an M6.3 event in the sea 2 km northeast of Niijima, which registered a seismic intensity of 6 lower on Niijima. And on July 30th, there was an M6.4 event 10 km southwest of Miyakejima, which registered a seismic intensity of 6 lower on Miyakejima.
In addition, on July 16th, there was concentrated microearthquake activity of maximum seismic intensity 2.7 in the vicinity of the Izu Oshima.
